For parents & caregivers

More support for your child. More breathing room for you.

You do so much for your family. Raíces del Canal offers a small-group after-school program where children receive care, help with schoolwork, and opportunities to create and learn together—all at no cost to participating families.

  • Free after-school care and tutoring
  • Support with homework and new skills
  • A connection to other families in the Canal

A little extra help. A whole world to discover.

There is more than one way to learn. Here, a question about homework can lead to a conversation, a piece of fabric can become a pillow, and a garden can become a place to discover what you can contribute.

  • Extra support with schoolwork and questions
  • Art, sewing, plants, exhibits, and group projects
  • Friendship, cultural connection, and chances to lead

Learn together, share what you make, and help care for the neighborhood you call home.

For volunteers

Your time and skills can make someone’s day.

You can bring patience, a creative skill, a love of gardening, or a willingness to help. Raíces del Canal welcomes volunteers from across the community, including students at Marin’s local high schools, college students, and adults.

  • Help students with homework, reading, and tutoring
  • Share a skill through art, sewing, or hands-on activities
  • Build communication and teamwork skills while giving back

Prefer to be outdoors? Ask about garden work, Mingas, and event support. Tell us what you enjoy and we’ll talk about where you can help.

For sponsors & community partners

Help the Canal thrive. Be part of what grows.

Local businesses, organizations, and individual supporters can help keep this work accessible to families. A sponsorship is a way to stand alongside young people and invest in the community here in the Canal.

  • Help keep after-school learning accessible to families
  • Support shared gardens, cultural learning, and community gatherings
  • Connect with the work through stories, photos, and participation

Ask about financial support, useful materials, or a partnership built around what your organization can contribute. We’ll discuss the needs and possibilities together.
