Plants, Sewing, and Live Music: A Community Comes Together at Green Fest
Plants to nurture, skills to share, and music to enjoy: Green Fest brought neighbors together at San Rafael’s Pickleweed Park in June 2026.

There are many ways to care for a community. Share something you know. Help someone learn a skill. Give them a plant to grow. Make space to gather and enjoy music together.
At Raíces del Canal’s Green Fest in June 2026, all of those things came together at San Rafael’s Pickleweed Park.
A day of shared discoveries
Hosted by the Raíces del Canal class of students, the festival welcomed the community into a day of environmental learning and shared creativity. Student-created exhibits introduced visitors to ecosystems, opening conversations about the natural connections that sustain life around us.

Alongside those exhibits, collaboration with other groups helped bring different activities and experiences into the gathering. Visitors could learn sewing, receive plants, and enjoy live music. These simple invitations gave people different ways to connect—with a new idea, a creative practice, or one another.

Making room for joy
A plant giveaway can carry a little of a festival home. Learning to sew can open a door to making and repairing. Music can turn a shared community space into a place of celebration. At Green Fest, these experiences belonged together.

The event expressed Raíces del Canal’s commitment to strengthening relationships between young people, families, culture, and the land. Students helped shape a gathering that made room for both learning and joy.

Connections that keep growing
Green Fest brought that vision into a familiar community space. For one day in June, Pickleweed Park became a place to share knowledge, discover skills, celebrate creativity, and spend time together.
Those connections are part of what makes a neighborhood thrive. Green Fest gave the community a chance to nurture them.
